I am a experienced Lighting Lead with a wide range of artistic and technical skills in lighting, rendering and compositing. In the past 18 years I have mostly worked on animated feature and live action feature films including Captain Marvel, Peter Rabbit, The Lego Batman Movie, The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies, Hotel Transylvania 2, The Lego Movie, Walking with Dinosaurs, Happy Feet Two and Legend of the Guardians.
I had the great pleasure to be a Lighting Lead for a talented and fun team of artists for Captain Marvel. During this show we continued to automate our lighting workflow for faster turnarounds while keeping it flexible for solving creative and technical challenges.
Being the first person to join the Lighting Supervisor on Peter Rabbit as a Lighting Lead I was able to shape the new VFX Lighting pipeline with him. The resulting standardized and automatized lighting workflow results in faster output, quicker turnarounds and consistent output for the compositing department. This allowed us to delivery over 120 shots per week with little to no over time. I also managed and lead an amazing team of artists on the show.
I had the great opportunity to be the Lighting Lead for a extremely dedicated and talented team on Animal Logic’s first VR show ‘The LEGO Batman Movie – Batmersive VR Experience’. A 5 min short in 4k stereo VR. Besides early testing, render time projection and optimization I also did the lighting of the Gotham City day and night shots.
My blog about cinematography lighting and what can be learnt from for cg lighting. I held presentations based on this blog for the lighting department covering:
